Carrie Siegfried-Haase Artist...Educator...Craftsperson
Our world today is filled with conflict and fear, and it seems the only thing that we all can agree on is the need for change. Change requires creativity. This is true on an individual level as well as a global level. I believe that the first step to creating change is visualizing the change that we want to see. It is my goal as an artist to help people shift their perspective so that they can change their perception.
My work is not limited by medium or subject matter. Developing empathy by considering other viewpoints is frequently where my design process begins, and the message often determines which mediums I use. While I began my art career as a silversmith, I also work with acrylic paint, mixed media, wood, and any other material that suits my purpose. Even my husband’s worn-out jeans have been used on more than one occasion.
Each project is a personal challenge for me to grow as I explore and experiment. By focusing on the message and theme of the piece, the artistic process frequently transforms into a healing exercise that shifts my own perception as well.
